Flatpack Eco-Coop - Standard Size

We offer both the Standard and the Extra Large coop in flatpack form for freight anywhere in Australia. Coops include feeder and waterer (but not food and straw).

I'm afraid that we no longer have a long distance freight company since our one closed and while we are happy to prepare the coop for freight, customers will need to organise their own freight. For country areas we have found that local freight and removals companies usually offer an excellent price and service.

The size of the coops for arranging freight is:

Standard coop 1.8m X 0.9m X 0.2m (and weighs approx 25kg); and
Extra Large coop 2.3m X 1.3m X 0.2m (and weighs approx 40kg).

The coops are easy to assemble and come with assembly instructions and you will need a cordless drill (screwdriver) or a strong wrist to put them together. To open the package up when it arrives, just remove the screws marked with an X in black texta.

Tooth File

Chickens are fierce creatures that grow long and sharp teeth that need to be filed down regularly. We sell files designed just for this purpose at $10 per file. Files are invisible, weigh nothing, and all money raised is given to charity.

Certified Organic Stockfeed

The chicken feed we sell is certified organic and high in protein (for good laying). The diet is especially formulated to keep older chooks laying as long as possible (whilst still ensuring young chooks lay well too).

We can courier it to you anywhere in Sydney, Blue Mountains, Illawarra, Central Coast and even Newcastle and surrounds (with a few exceptions) for $10 delivery per bag. Please choose the "Feed ONLY $10 per bag" shipping option.

Please note, we use a docket based courier that is $10 per docket up to 20kg. The feed bags are 20kg so they are one docket per bag for courier delivery. We despatch feed on Thursdays and Fridays so please can you place an order when you have a week’s worth to avoid running out.

Chooks

We sell chickens separately if you have your own coop.

At Rentachook we sell a crossbreed hen called an Isa Brown. These are renowned for their egg laying (they hold the world record for the most eggs laid by a chook in a year!) and they are placid (get along well with kids and other pets). All birds are sold at 'point of lay' or just laying, usually between 16 and 20 weeks old. The chooks have been triple vaccinated and cost $30 per hen. Please note that to ensure health and wellbeing of hens I do not keep them in stock and I get them from the farm to fill orders (usually once a fortnight). Hens need to be picked up from me in Ryde as I will not send live animals by courier. Please bring a cardboard box (wine box size for a couple of hes is sufficient) or a cat carrier if you have one.

Henrun Gate

For $50 we will sell you a gate (with hinges and a latch) and two 1.2m hardwood gate posts. We used to make readymade henruns but ended up with lots of short lengths of cut wire when people miscalculated the length needed. What you do is hammer the gateposts into the ground, attach the gate and latch and then shoot off to the local hardware store and buy some cheap chookwire, some tomato stakes and cable ties and then, hey presto, you can make your henrun as big as you like (and/or move it around). Alternatively you could order one of our Henrun Kits and we will install it for you.

The Eco-Coop Package

The Eco-Coop comes as a package comprising a standard chicken coop, 2 hens, a feeder, a waterer, some food and straw - everything you need to get you started keeping chooks in your backyard, including all the advice and help you need to make it a success.

The coop and hens are sold on our rental return terms. Meaning that, if after 6 weeks, you decide keeping chooks is not for you, you can return it and get your deposit back (see Renting for more information on how renting works).

The standard coop measures 1.8m long and approximately 1m wide/high and is designed for 2 chooks. You can also purchase the coop without chooks if you already have your own chooks or want to find a special breed yourself.
